Life With The Williams Clan

Five kids. A firefighter husband. A whole lot of love. And absolutely no shortage of chaos.

If you've spent any time here, you've probably figured out pretty quickly that my family is a huge part of who I am.

I'm a mom of five grown kids, which I once assumed meant the parenting part would get easier. Apparently, that's not how that works. They're adults with lives, relationships, careers, heartbreaks, big decisions and their own families—and somehow, as their mom, you still carry a little piece of all of it.

Then there's my husband, LaDon.

I'm incredibly proud to be a fire wife, but I'll also be the first to tell you that this life isn't always easy. His schedule can take him away for months at a time, and after all these years of marriage, we're still learning how to navigate the distance, reconnect when he's home, and remember that somewhere underneath the schedules, kids, work and responsibilities, we actually really like each other.

Our family has experienced some incredible highs and some devastating losses. We've moved, started over, changed plans, raised kids, watched them grow up, worried ourselves sick, laughed until we've cried and probably questioned our sanity more than once.

And that's a big reason this website isn't just about wellness or beauty.

Because life isn't just labs, supplements, skincare and eating healthy.

It's marriage. Motherhood. Grief. Friendships. Aging. Changing. Starting over. Taking care of the people you love while remembering you're a person too.

This is our real life. And I'm really glad you're here for it.

Motherhood Doesn't End at 18

I used to think there would come a point when my kids grew up and motherhood would get easier.

That was cute.

I have five adult kids now, and let me tell you — the worrying doesn't stop. The problems just get more expensive and apparently require significantly more emotional support.

Now it's careers, relationships, heartbreaks, money, big decisions, and occasionally listening to a story while thinking, Please don't ask me what I think because you are NOT going to like my answer.

And when my kids are being a pain in my ass, I remind them of something all the time:

Listen. This is my first time doing this too.

You've never been this age before — but I've never been the mom of you at this age before either.

You're figuring out adulthood for the first time. I'm figuring out how to parent an adult for the first time. So maybe we could all cut each other a little slack.

I spent years teaching five kids to become independent adults. Then they actually became independent adults and started making their own decisions.

Which, as it turns out, was a terrible flaw in my original plan.

Now I'm supposed to trust that I raised them well, let them make their own mistakes, and somehow keep my mouth shut?

Still working on that last part.

But underneath the worry, disagreements, unsolicited advice and occasional pain in my ass, they are still the greatest thing I've ever done.

I'm incredibly proud of the humans they've become.

And I'm still learning this version of motherhood right alongside them.

Turns out, we're all just winging it. ❤️

Marriage, Fire Life & Us

I love my husband. Like, really love him.

But being married to a firefighter is its own special kind of relationship.

There have been years when it feels like he's gone almost as much as he's home. Long shifts, overtime, deployments, missed holidays, changed plans — and a whole lot of me saying, “Wait... when are you coming home again?”

For years, so much of our marriage revolved around raising five kids. School, sports, work, bills, schedules, and just trying to keep everyone alive and somewhat functioning.

Then the kids grew up.

And suddenly you're looking at each other like... oh, hey. It's you again.

The truth is, marriage changes. People change. Life changes. Loving someone for a long time doesn't mean every season is easy.

And fire life adds another layer. You learn to be incredibly independent when they're gone, and then somehow you're supposed to immediately switch back into couple mode when they walk through the door.

Apparently, “I've got it, I don't need you” isn't quite the romantic welcome-home message they were hoping for.

We've had amazing seasons, hard seasons, ridiculously fun seasons, and seasons where we've had to work a little harder to find each other again.

But after everything, he's still my person.

We're still laughing, still annoying the hell out of each other, still making plans, and still choosing each other.

Because eventually the kids build lives of their own.

And at the end of the day, it's still us.

Why It Matters

For so many years, so much of my life was about taking care of everyone else.

Raising five kids. Being a wife. Navigating fire life. Working. Managing a home. Worrying about the people I love. And like so many women, somewhere in all of that, taking care of myself wasn't always at the top of the list.

But the older I get, the more I realize that our health isn't something we should wait to care about until something goes wrong.

We deserve to feel good in our bodies. We deserve energy. We deserve to understand what's happening with our health, ask better questions, take care of ourselves, and yes — still want to look good and feel confident too.

Not because we're selfish.

Because we're women, moms, wives, partners and people outside of all those roles — and our lives matter too.

I've experienced enough life, love, loss and change to know that none of this is guaranteed.

I don't just want to live a long life.

I want to feel good enough to actually live it — with the people I love.

And I want that for you too. ❤️
